As everyone is talking about this new era of AI-based security and most of the leaders started talking about the same at every meeting some people started blindly believing that AI is the next future in Cyber World.
In my opinion, as the digital landscape evolves, leveraging Artificial Intelligence in cybersecurity has become a game-changer for organizations where teams started using AI-based solutions to build some queries or some data analytics and so on. But we need to consider one thing we need to train the AI model first and based on that we can relay the outputs from any AI platform.
As people like me started using AI tools in our day-to-day activities where mostly we work on Detection and response and with my own experience, I can say here’s a glimpse into how AI is restructuring our security strategies:
✨ Next level of Threat Detection & Response: AI’s ability to analyze vast data sets and identify patterns empowers security teams to swiftly detect and respond to threats with unparalleled accuracy. Tools Like Sentinel and Chronical already doing the same while we onboard a vast number of data sets.
🤖 Task Automation: Routine tasks like patch management and vulnerability scanning are seamlessly automated by AI, allowing security professionals to focus on more complex challenges.
🌐 Advanced Security Posture: The use of AI contributes to an overall improvement in security posture, strengthening defenses and mitigating risks effectively.
However, we need to think that these above features are not enough to secure our environments whether our workload is in the cloud or On-prem.
we can’t recognize the contribution of AI in the security field because it purely depends on –
🤨 Quality of Data: AI’s value depends on the quality of the data it’s trained on. Ingesting Wrong or incomplete data can lead to inaccurate results.
🤔 Human Awareness : While AI is a powerful ally, it can’t replace human awareness and creativity. These human elements are vital for identifying and responding to new and emerging threats.
🛑 Vulnerability to Adversarial Attacks: AI is not immune to adversarial attacks, where manipulation of data can mislead AI into making incorrect decisions. Vigilance is essential to counter such threats.
In conclusion, AI is a powerful tool, but it works best when complemented by human expertise. It’s not a replacement but a force multiplier.
The only thing we can do is we can join the synergy of AI and human insight to strengthen our cybersecurity defenses.
